How to set a passcode on the app of YouTube Kids?
Follow the steps given below to set a passcode, which will help you to keep children away from bypassing restrictions set by you.
- Open the YouTube Kids app on iOS or Android
- Click on the lock icon on the corner of bottom-right.
- Solve the issues in Mathematical and then submit it.
- Set a four-digit passcode, and check it.
This will create a passcode to access the app’s settings and restrictions. Until the kids don’t know this passcode, they won’t be able to bypass any restrictions on YouTube Kids.
How to keep children safe on YouTube Kids?
If you are login to an account, follow these steps to allow the relevant settings to keep your children safe on YouTube Kids.
- Open the YouTube Kids app on iOS or Android
- Click on the lock icon on the corner of bottom-right. Enter your passcode.
- Click on Settings.
- Have a click on kid’s profile name.
- Enter the Gmail password and log in.
- Disable allow searching and that will remove the search option and prevent your child from finding videos on YouTube Kids.
- Enable the approved content only. Once you do this, Go to the app’s home screen and choose the channels you want your kids to watch videos from.
- Enable pause watch history. This will prevent YouTube Kids from using search or video view terms in the app to recommend videos.
If you use YouTube Kids without logging in, you will see most of these options under Settings, but the advanced parental controls in step 7 won’t be available.
How to report unsuitable videos on YouTube Kids
The steps given below let you report videos that are inappropriate for children on YouTube Kids.
- Go to the YouTube Kids app on Android or iOS.
- Play any video.
- Pause the video and then click on the Report button.
- Choose the issue with the video from three options —inappropriate video, inappropriate audio, or other.
- Click on report
- You can also block certain videos to appear on the YouTube Kids app.
- Open any channel on YouTube Kids.
- Click on the three vertical dots icon under the video.
- Click on the option of Block this video
These steps will allow you to keep unsuitable videos away from your kids on the YouTube Kids app. You should also consider substitutions such as Netflix and many others.
